Dad Review of Night Sky Amazon Series

Nowadays it is harder and harder to find quality shows that you can watch with the family. Up front I would only recommend this series for the 13 and up family members.

The series centers around Franklin and Irene York, a couple who years ago discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They've carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks' quiet existence is quickly upended, and the mysterious chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.

J.K. Simmons and Sissy Spacek headline the Prime Video sci-fi drama, Night Sky, that is now available one the streaming service worldwide. The Academy Award-winners are set to play a couple who have found a portal to a deserted planet in their background. You know what they say about real estate — location, location, location.

Night Sky is the first scripted TV series by creator Holden Miller, though the series has an experienced showrunner in Daniel C. Connolly, who has previously worked on Longmire, Into the Badlands and The Son.

The new series is part of a 2022 lineup for Prime Video that included Outer Range and The Boys season 3. But, we’re focusing on Night Sky here, so read on to learn everything you need to know about the new series.

Night Sky had both my wife and myself glued to the TV this Memorial day weekend. We never expected to binge late into the night watching an Amazon TV series. I think the lure for us was the constant mystery in the plot.

The plot was slow paced and new storylines kept opening up in the first few episodes. The two main characters Frank and Irene York kept me wondering. Were they aliens or not? At one time I thought just Irene was an alien. Then another time I thought Frank was an alien.

Why this movie even seems to be about aliens is intriguing in itself. The older couple in the movie just seem to be at peace with the fact they travel light years every night.

Very seldom do Deb and Myself watch a movie that we both enjoy. This movie series not only had us lunging for the next episode, but openly discussing our thoughts and perspectives on each character and episode.

We sat guessing why this is happening and what will happen next. We were excited like little kids watching Dude Perfect or Mr Beast. Based on my experience if you and your significant other like syfy I recommend watching this together.

As far as if this is ok for children to watch, I am at a fork in the road. As far as sexual content there is little to none so that is good. However, there is killing and alcohol abuse. Language overall was not bad. Only a bad word here and there. I would rather sit and watch this with my 13 yr old than Stranger Things.

Overall I would recommend this series to the 13 and up in the home. But from what I have read. It does look like there will be no season 2. As soon as we finished consuming this series we immediately looked for season 2. Only to find that it seems to be canceled.

I am really sad if this is true. Both my wife and myself enjoyed this and were very excited at the thought of a season 2. Especially how season 1 ended. I do not want to give it away but the end of season one only seemed like the beginning.
