Dad Hack Lithium Is the New Oil, Buy This for Your Kids

I am not a financial advisor I am just a Dad telling you what I am buying for my family. What you do with it is up to you. Lithium is the new oil. I personally live in an oil town. I have many friends in the drilling and refinery business. First with more supply of oil on the open market, the price per barrel has been relatively low for sometime. They make the most money when oil is high but not to high. They like the 40 to 60 price per barrel sweet spot. With much more supply and cars getting better fuel economy things are starting to consolidate.

Add on the push for eclectic cars, raising a generations of "I don't want to own just rent" aka the Uber generation, oil is fading. Oil will never fad but the world governments are working in overtime doing their best to blame cataclysmic climate change on big oil. Big oil themselves see the writing on the wall. My buddy's tell me all the time about the inside deals these guys are working on. Weather it is buying solar farms, working deals with natural gas, or developing products to assist in the refining of lithium and other metals.

The electric car along with Elon musk is a major force in the mining of lithium. Elon Musk made driving an electric car sexy and fun. If you have driven or own a Tesla you understand just how much more fun they are to drive. The instant torque over the slow build up of a transmission. The idea that electric cars are cheaper than gas is insane. Just wait till we are having to plug in 16 million new cars a year onto our already dying electrical grid. China is by far the largest market currently for eclectic cars. The Chinese government put an extra tax on gasoline cars to force the Chinese public to move to electric. We you compound the fact that the big three are making a move to electric also the world is faced with a challenge.

There are two stocks on my list the first on is SLI (Standard Lithium LTD) I was doing some research and over the course of a few months I found these guys. They have developed a faster and more efficient way of mining lithium. If you know the current mining process it is very environmentally invasive. It also takes a long time to produce with current methods. They are using ground water and clay basically to mine lithium. If you visit their site they talk in more details of the process. I personally bought the stock at $3.11. Currently it is around $6.85. I am buying this one for my kids. I believe this stock has a lot of growth. I posted on my personal Facebook page back on June 4th when current ticker was STLHF you would have doubled your money by now.

The second one I am watching is CATL. Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. They are a Chinese batter manufacturer that was founded in 2011. They are the supplier to Tesla and other Chinese electric auto makers. I personally will not buy the stock on the current exchange it is listed on. However, I am buying the eft (BATT) It is an eft it is expensive with fees but it holds currently a 6.5% of its assets in CATL. Along with many other big players in the lithium and electric auto industry.
