Covid-19 and hurricane disaster proof small business. In the last 18 months South Louisiana has be put through the ringer. In March of 2020 Covid-19 sent the entire country into a lockdown. Louisiana was just finishing up Mardi Gras season. Mardi Gras brings people from all over the world to Louisiana. Mardi Gras is big business for Louisiana. Just here in our town as many as 100,000 people with come in for the festivities. Cities like New Orleans it is in the millions of visitors during Mardi Gras season. Roughly 6 months after Covid-19 shut us down here in south Louisiana.

Southwest Louisiana was dead in the sights of hurricane Laura. Hurricane Laura was one of the most powerful storms to ever hit the Louisiana coast line. Laura came in as a category 4 storm. It looked like a war zone. Building demolished homes with no roofs, homes gone all together. It was extremely taxing and difficult time. Just getting food was a day to day worry. We washed clothes in an ice chest had to boil our water and live with out air conditioning for 30 days. Everyday was a 10 to 12 hour grind of clean up. Running a chainsaw and hauling debris was the daily job. Almost exactly 30 days after Laura hurricane Delta took the exact same path as Laura. We had to go back to the ice chest to wash clothes for another week and no power for another week. Once clean up from the two hurricanes was behind us but still in the long process of rebuilding. This past winter we had and ice storm. If you know anything about Southwest Louisiana snow is light and it only snows once every 10 to 15 years. I would not even call it snow, I would call it flurries. However, this past winter we had not one but two ice storms. We are not equipped to handle snow and ice like the northern states. We were again completely shut down for 2 weeks. On a positive now we did have power! As spring started to bloom another disaster came our way. In one day 13 inches of rain. Our town still in recovery mode was now under water. Between Covid-19 and 2 major hurricanes ice storm and a flood we were starting to think the end was near.

Tikiz was a bright spot in the darkness. During Covid-19 we were still able to operate after speaking with our local health department. It was wonderful site to drive around and see the joy Tikiz would bring to people that have been cut off and locked in their homes. Tikiz again was able to operate after the storms. While people from Louisiana are living in 3rd world condition after the storms. The Tikiz truck brought smiles to the tired over worked people in our area. The point is our community, has been through 18 months of struggle. We have experienced more struggle in 18 months than I can remember in 10 years. Through it all we were able to support our family and employees due to the structure of Tikiz. Tikiz low operating cost allowed us to survive. Tikiz nimbleness allowed us to move around and cover areas where the customers were. Being mobile was a huge advantage in these conditions as compared to a traditional brick and mortal business.
