Big Lake aka Calcasieu Lake is a brackish lake located in southwest Louisiana, United States, located mostly within Cameron Parish. The Lake, also known as Big Lake to the local population, Calcasieu Lake is paralleled on its west shore by Louisiana Highway 27, and is located about 17 mi (27 km) south of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Known locally as Big Lake, the waterbody south of Lake Charles, La. measures 12 miles long by 9 miles wide and dominates the southern end of the Calcasieu Estuary.

On June 24, 2007, a rare albino "pink" bottlenose dolphin, Pinky, was spotted by a charter fishing-boat captain based in Lake Charles.

As a local we grew up fishing Calcasieu Lake. My Dad would tell me stories of how he would run shrimping nets from the back of his small fishing boat. We would camp down at Holly Beach, fish Big Lake, fish the marshes, and play in the surf along the gulf.

Years ago there was a water slide down on the south end of the lake in Holly Beach. Almost every weekend we would ride 4 wheelers down the beach, and get shocked while playing the pack-man game in the arcade room. It was always fun to ride the slide and Mikes Wild Water Slide then play in the arcade while still wet. It literally was a shocking experience.
